Accessibility
How accessible this website and our three clinics are, what we know is not yet right, and how to tell us when something does not work.
Last updated
We want every patient to be able to use this website and our buildings independently. This statement sets out where we are, honestly, including the parts that are not finished.
This website
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Specific commitments:
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, and the focus indicator is visible on every interactive element against every background.
- Text contrast meets 4.5:1, and interface components meet 3:1, in both the light and dark themes.
- The site works at 200% zoom and at 320 CSS pixels wide without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
- All animation respects
prefers-reduced-motion. Nothing on this site conveys meaning through motion alone, so disabling it loses nothing. - Colour is never the only means of conveying information.
- Every image carries alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Headings follow a logical order and each page has exactly one
h1.
What we know is not perfect
The clinic location maps are static images with a text address alongside; we would rather provide a genuinely accessible interactive map and have not yet found one we are happy with. Some older PDF forms are not fully tagged — we will provide any form in an alternative format on request, same day.
Our clinics
Full details are on each clinic page. In summary:
- Riverside — step-free from the street to every consulting room, lift with audible floor announcements, accessible WC with left-hand transfer, hearing loops in rooms 1 to 4.
- Northgate — level entrance with an automatic door, everything on one floor, accessible WC with baby changing, hearing loops throughout.
- Eastfield — step-free throughout including the physiotherapy gym, wide doorways with a turning circle in every treatment room, a low-stimulus waiting area with dimmable lighting.
Blue Badge bays are available at Riverside and Eastfield, and one is marked on the street outside Northgate.
Things we will do if you ask
- Arrange a BSL interpreter or a spoken-language interpreter, free, with forty-eight hours’ notice.
- Send letters and results in large print, or by email rather than post.
- Book you a longer appointment, or the first appointment of a session, if waiting is difficult.
- Use the quiet waiting area rather than the main one.
- Phone you rather than relying on written communication.
You do not need a diagnosis or evidence to ask for any of these.
Telling us about a problem
